 Fur Wig Directions

A fur wig is a fast and easy project. They are only 3 parts with 2 seams..

Pattern Layout

Almost all fake fur has is made on a knitted base so it has a little stretch. When cutting it is important to arrange the pattern so that the stretch will stretch in the proper direction.

One of the WIG SIDES should be flipped be fore cutting. Doing so will produce a mirror image for the other side of the head.

Cutting Fur

Cutting fur is a missy thing. They are many ways to go about it. The two most common two ways booth start by parting the fur along the seam to be cut.

Cut with razor

Using a razor blade cut fur from the backside. Try to only cut the backing and not the fur

Cut with Scissors

Using scissors cut from the backside. Use just the points of scissors make small cuts Try to only cut the backing and not the fur.

Begin by brushing the fur of each piece away from the seam that you are about to sew. Doing this will keep the fur to the right side of the seam.

Starting at front of seam 31 , with right sides (fur side) together. Pin WIG MID to WIG SIDE

Pen as you go. Wrap WIG MID around the edge of WIG SIDE at seam 31. Use as many pins as you need.

When you reach the back you will find that WIG MID is longer than WIG SIDE. Don’t panic its suppose to be that way. The longer curved edge lets the wig hug the back of the head.

Now just zigzags stitch the edge of seam 31. One side on one side off as covered in the last 2 chapters.

Repeat all the above steps for the other side.

Turn wig right side out and test fit to dolls head.

If wig is tight that’s ok

If wig is lose stitch a striate stitch 1/8 in from edge of booth seams. Repeat moving in 1/8 more unto wig is snug around the opening.
